The Experience

38 Years of Hardwood Craftsmanship

North American Hardwood is not a flooring retailer or a large sales organization. It is built around 38 years of hands-on experience refinishing, installing and repairing real hardwood floors in Saskatchewan homes.

When you call, you talk to Rick Trischuk, the person who will be looking at your floors, doing the work and standing behind it. That is the whole business, and it is deliberate.

Services

Three things, done well.

Hardwood flooring is the only work North American Hardwood takes on: no tile, no carpet, no general renovations.

01

Hardwood Floor Refinishing

Restore worn, scratched and tired hardwood rather than automatically replacing it. Vacuum-assisted sanding helps control sanding dust while the floor is brought back.

Hardwood Installation

Professional hardwood installation for renovations, new rooms and other residential projects, laid out and finished with the same care as the refinishing work.

Hardwood Floor Repairs

Repair damaged boards and problem areas while preserving as much of the existing hardwood as practical. Bring Rick the trouble spots before assuming the whole floor is finished.

Refinishing

Your Hardwood May Not Need Replacing.

A worn finish, surface scratches, dullness and years of ordinary use can change how a hardwood floor looks long before the wood itself is spent. Refinishing sands back to bare wood and rebuilds the finish, and it often brings back character owners assumed was gone.

Every floor is different. Species, thickness, past sandings, water damage and previous finishes all matter, so Rick will tell you what he sees after looking at it rather than promising a result sight unseen.

About Rick

Experience You Can Talk To Directly.

When you contact North American Hardwood, you are dealing directly with Rick Trischuk, who has spent 38 years working with hardwood flooring. He looks at the floor, gives you his read on it, and does the work.

There is no showroom appointment, no sales representative and no handoff to a crew you have not met. For most homeowners that is the difference between guessing at a quote and understanding what their floor actually needs.

Customer Feedback

In Rick's customers' own words.

"Rick refinished our maple floors after twenty years of wear and they look better than the day the house was built. He explained what the sanding would involve before he started, and the vacuum system kept the dust down to almost nothing."
Diane K. · Saskatoon
"We had oak installed through the kitchen and hallway. Rick was upfront about the timeline and stuck to it, and the transitions between rooms are seamless."
Trevor S. · Warman
"Called about a few water-damaged boards near our back door. Rick matched the stain close enough that you would never know which boards were replaced. Fair price, and he showed up when he said he would."
Allan R. · Martensville
Questions

Common hardwood questions.

Anything specific to your floor is better answered after Rick has seen it. Call or send photos.

Call 306-241-5777 →
Can my hardwood floors be refinished?+

Often, yes, but it depends on the floor. Species, board thickness, how many times it has been sanded before, water damage and the existing finish all matter. Rick will look at the floor and tell you what he sees rather than promising a result in advance.

Can damaged hardwood boards be repaired?+

Repairs are a regular part of the work. The goal is to address damaged boards and problem areas while preserving as much of the existing hardwood as practical. What is possible depends on the extent of the damage and the floor itself.

Do you install new hardwood flooring?+

Yes. Hardwood installation for renovations, new rooms and other residential projects is one of the three services, alongside refinishing and repairs.

How much dust does floor sanding create?+

Sanding creates dust. Rick uses a vacuum-assisted sanding system, which helps control sanding dust while the work is underway. He can walk you through what to expect in your home before starting.

Do you take projects outside Saskatoon?+

Yes. North American Hardwood is based in Saskatoon and takes suitable hardwood flooring projects throughout Saskatchewan. Call with the location and details and Rick will tell you what works.

Are estimates free?+

Estimates within Saskatoon are free. For projects outside the city, travel or estimate charges may apply depending on location. That is discussed up front, before anyone commits to anything.

How long does hardwood floor refinishing take?+

It varies with the size of the area, the condition of the floor and the finish being used, including drying time. Rick will give you a realistic timeline for your project once he has seen the floor.

Can you match or repair an existing hardwood floor?+

Matching depends on the species, the age of the floor, the grade and the finish. Some floors blend well, others less so. It is an assessment question, so send photos or have Rick take a look.
